Frequently asked questions

How do i know if i have asbestos in my home?
If your home was built or renovated before 1990, there's a good chance it contains asbestos, especially in areas like eaves, bathrooms, kitchens, fences, or roof sheeting. Asbestos can be hard to identify just by looking at it.
Is it safe to live in a house with Asbestos?
Asbestos is generally safe if it's in good condition and left undisturbed. The danger comes when asbestos materials are cut, drilled, sanded or broken, which can release harmful fibres into the air.
Do i need a licensed professional to remove asbestos?
Yes - In most cases, you need a licensed professional to remove asbestos safely and legally. In Queensland, a Class B licence is required for the removal of non-friable (bonded) asbestos, which is the most common type found in homes (e.g. in walls, fences, eaves, and roofing).

Friable asbestos (which crumbles easily and is more dangerous) requires a Class A licence and involves much more stringent containment and clearance practices.

Do you remove all types of asbestos?

Although we are licensed to remove Class A (friable) asbestos, as a new and growing business we currently don't have the resources in place to carry out Class A removal, due to the advanced containment practices required.

Do you handle smaller jobs?
Yes - at HazSmart Solutions, we're happy to take on small-scale work, whether it's minor asbestos removal/repair, or a general handyman task. We understand that not every job is a major project, and we're here to help with reliable, efficient service, no matter the size.
